Role summary
This role is for an Oxygen/COPD Specialist Nurse within the Rocket demand team, working across primary and secondary care. The nurse specialist will act as a clinical expert, providing education, assessment, monitoring, and follow-up for patients with COPD and those requiring home oxygen. Responsibilities include managing a caseload, providing specialist advice, and conducting ward-based assessments and home visits. The post holder will also act as a clinical leader and role model for developing clinical practice and standards of care.
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level or equivalent level of education, training or experience as a Registered General Nurse
Desirable criteria
- Independent prescribing or interest in gaining qualification
- Knowledge and Experience
- 2 years experience working in a NHS setting
- Experience of respiratory patients
- Home Oxygen pathway knowledge/ interpretation of blood gases
- Community care experience
- Advanced clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Management of complex respiratory patients with COPD and patients requiring oxygen
- Autonomous working using decision making skills with clinical curiosity

Job summary
An opportunity has arisen within the Rocket demand team to work within the COPD and Oxygen nurse specialist services.
Working across primary and secondary care the nurse specialist will act as the clinical expert and professional resource to the multi professional team, patients and carers within the specialist service.
The post holder will work alongside the rocket, oxygen and virtual ward teams to ensure the development and delivery of a high quality service for patients a requiring a respiratory nurse assessment. Providing education, assessment, monitoring and follow up for patients with COPD and those requiring home oxygen. This will include the management of a case load of patients and the provision of specialist advise within the clinical area. The role will include the provision of ward based assessments, advice and management of patients being discharged under the COPD/O2 team and home visits. To provide support and education for existing service users.
