Role summary
This is a new leadership role within the expanding Mental Health Support Team (MHST) in Nottinghamshire, aiming to achieve 100% school coverage by 2029. The post holder will lead and manage the day-to-day operations and performance of the CAMHS MHST, focusing on enhancing the mental and emotional well-being of children and young people. Responsibilities include team leadership, recruitment, supervision, and collaboration with various partners to drive improved mental health outcomes. The role requires excellent managerial and leadership skills with a strong understanding of clinical needs in child and young person mental health.
Key responsibilities
- Provide leadership within an agreed National model of delivery.
- Recruit, support, and manage teams.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Liaise with Schools, Educational Psychology, Commissioners, and wider system partners.
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations and performance of the CAMHS Mental Health Support Team.

- Has the ability to perform the full ranges of duties.
- Standard keyboard skills.
- Ability to travel across site and system partner sites.
- Complete physical safety training.
- Required to undertake on call duties on the 1st Mental Health on-call rota.
- Educated to Degree level (relevant to the post) with additional post graduate qualification.
- Registered Nurse, Dip SW or equivalent social work qualification (CSS, CQSW, degree in social work), Allied Health Professional with professional accreditation with HCPC registration or equivalent and relevant nationally recognised accrediting body.
- Supervision of staff.
- Experience and knowledge of productivity models which support both timely patient access to services, effective use of team resource and harmonises demand capacity throughput.
- Leadership of people including setting and monitoring objectives against performance.
- Effective supervision of staff.
- Have a significant amount of relevant clinical experience/understanding across the breadth of presentations within Community CAMHS, MHST or relevant clinical delivery area.
- Experience of leading Multi-disciplinary teams and supporting effective team working.
- Experience of caseload management, including working with clients with a wide range of mental health difficulties. Experience of leading service change and service development.
- Experience of developing and delivering training packages regarding mental health and risk.
- Knowledge of current Mental Health policy and Legislation.
- Knowledge of MHST structures, scope and offer Knowledge and experience of Safeguarding Adults and Children practice.
- Working knowledge and understanding of policy drivers for CAMHS, MHST & CYP-IAPT.
- Excellent interpersonal, liaison, management and organisational skills.
- Developing and implementing change management processes.
- Building effective communication with a diverse range of colleagues and agencies.
- To provide the vision and leadership for the team.
- Ability to lead and develop and motivate others.
- Sound judgement and decision-making skills.
- Innovation, creativity and ability in leading and developing teams, groups and individuals.
- Information technology experience and application skills.
- Ability to plan and organise activities to be completed by the team to meet the Trust's strategic objectives.
- Building and promoting effective professional relationships and integrated team-working across the organisation and system partners.
- Ability to partake in the Mental Health 1st on call rota, which may require working unsocial hours
