Role summary

This role is for a Renal Specialist Nurse to join the Transplant Specialist Nurse team. The post holder will manage nurse-led clinics, medication, and participate in research and audit. Key responsibilities

Essential criteria

  • Previous experience within the speciality.
  • Experience at senior staff nurse level.
  • Ability to demonstrate up to date experience and depth of knowledge and clinical competence.
  • Registered Nurse.
  • Relevant Speciality course.
  • Teaching / Assessor qualification.
  • Educated to degree level.
  • Act as an independent prescriber.
  • Physical examination/ assessment qualification
  • IT skills.
  • Ability to act on own initiative with evidence of sound decision making abilities.
  • Able to demonstrate team management skills with an understanding of the leadership role.

Desirable criteria

  • An awareness of Trust Policies including renal NSF, clinical governance, data protection etc.
  • Demonstrate ability and experience in change management/ clinical developments.
  • Recent experience within acute Renal setting and competent with dialysis skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Able to demonstrate an active role in teaching.

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Transplant Specialist Nurse team. The post holder should have extensive knowledge of renal nursing, excellent communication skills, a passion for delivering high quality care and be able to work collaboratively within the team. Qualifications in prescribing and physical examination are desirable, but this could be a band 6 training post until band 7 competencies are achieved, and full support will be given to attain this.
