Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Therapy Support Worker to join the inpatient therapy team at Leominster Community Hospital. You will work alongside Occupational and Physiotherapists and the multidisciplinary team to promote rehabilitation and patient independence. The role involves supporting patients to maximise their functional potential and liaising with community teams for equipment and services. The Trust is committed to staff development and offers learning opportunities to enhance skills.
Essential criteria
- 3 A levels or Health and Science T-Level or equivalent level 3 qualification(s)
- OR as a level 3 apprenticeship (e.g. senior healthcare support worker apprenticeship or another level 3 qualification pathway
- OR equivalent clinical experience / expertise within AHP profession underpinned by theoretical and practical experience
- Functional Skills Level 2 or Maths & English GCSE (Grades 9-4 or A*-C)

- Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Knowledge of specific relevant patient conditions and therapy interventions acquired through experience
- Experience of multi-disciplinary record keeping
- Basic Computer Skills including word processing and e-mail
- Able to make clinical judgements without direct supervision
- Able to manage busy case load and prioritise
- Ability to work independently (under guidance) using own knowledge skills and initiative acknowledging role boundaries
- Evidence of ongoing CPD in relevant area
- Able to maintain confidentiality and professionalism within the environment that they are working
- Able to demonstrate awareness of own limitations and need to ask for help
- Evidence of ability to communicate and work with team
- Ability to adapt and to needs of the service
- Shows evidence of compassion, accountability, respect and excellence
- Reliable
- Experience at band 2 or equivalent within relevant profession
- NHS or equivalent experience e.g. inpatient areas, acute or community or community services
- Experience of using/fitting adaptive equipment
- Other Factors
- Ability to fulfil the travel requirements of post
- Able to meet moving and handling requirements of post
- Able to deal sensitively and safely with blood and bodily fluids

Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Therapy Support Worker to support the work of the inpatient therapy team at Leominster Community Hospital.
You will be working with the Occupational & Physiotherapists based on the wards alongside the multi-disciplinary team to promote rehabilitation and the why not home, why not today ethos, enabling the best outcomes achievable. The team engages and supports national campaigns for example ending Pj Paralysis and the Discharge To Assess strategy.
The Therapy Services Department is committed to providing high quality, evidence based practice, utilising a therapy rehab area away from the main wards. We also have established and effective joint working relationships with the wider community services.
The post holder will need to be
- An excellent communicator - both written and verbal
- Able to engage and work with patients to support them to maximise their functional potential
- An Autonomous practitioner and team player
- Keen to learn and develop new skills
Part of the role involves liaising with community teams to organise services and delivery / fitting equipment in patient's homes.
