Role summary

Ward 14 is seeking an enthusiastic Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse to lead and ensure excellent experiences for both staff and patients. This role involves working in a Pathway Discharge Unit, collaborating with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team to facilitate safe discharges. The ward is currently a PDU but will return to surgical patients as part of future trust plans. The successful candidate will be passionate about leadership and patient care.

Key responsibilities

  • Work closely with the MDT to ensure patients have a safe discharge.
  • Carry out staff Personal Development Reviews, Return to Works, and Wellbeing meetings.
  • Assist/attend ward manager in meetings, audits, investigations and quality improvement plans and ideas.
  • Take charge in the day to day running of the ward.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and foster good working relationships with all multidisciplinary teams.
  • Deal effectively with comments, complaints, or incidents that affect staff and users of the ward.

Essential criteria

  • Experience at Band 5 within the speciality or related field.
  • Ward / Departmental management experience at Band 5 or above.
  • Ward / Department based teaching.
  • Managing clinical risk and incidents at Ward / Department level.
  • RGN with current registration.
  • Evidence of Continuing. Professional Development
  • Evidence of management experience / training.
  • Post registration qualification or experience in the specialty.
  • NMC recognised teaching and assessing qualification.
  • Evidence of being up to date with current NHS / professional issues.
  • Experience and knowledge within the speciality or related field.
  • Clinical credible.
  • Evidence of teaching and development skills.
  • Evidence of managing Change Organisation skills, Leadership skills and ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Awareness of health and safety issues and management of them.
  • Able to prioritise.
  • Fully aware of principles of infection control.
  • Able to produce written reports and articulate concerns regarding patient care / safety issues.
  • Fully aware of the principles of clinical governance and the application of clinical governance.
  • Computer literate as appropriate to the post.
  • NMC Code.
  • Knowledge of person centred care.
  • Promote peoples equality, diversity and rights.
  • To ensure actions contribute to quality.
  • Knowledge of the ageing process and related mental and physical health problems.

Job summary

Ward 14 is seeking an enthusiastic band 6 who is passionate

about leadership and ensuring both the staff and the patients have the best

experience.

Ward 14 is currently a Pathway Discharge Unit (PDU) where

patients are moved to once medically fit but need ongoing care. You will work

closely with the patients, family and MDT to ensure that the patient has the

right support on discharge.

Ward 14 sits under the surgical division and will return to
