Role summary
This role is for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the innovative Experts at Hand multidisciplinary team in Cheshire West and Chester. You will provide consultation, advice, training, and targeted support for children and young people with complex needs, working with professionals, educational settings, families, and partner agencies. The aim is to improve participation, independence, and outcomes for children and young people by developing effective strategies. This position offers an opportunity to develop specialist skills and make a wider impact.
Key responsibilities
- Provide occupational therapy consultation and advice for children and young people with a range of developmental, sensory, physical and neurodevelopmental needs.
- Work in partnership with schools, colleges and educational settings to identify practical strategies that support participation, learning and independence.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary discussions around children and young people with complex presentations.
- Support the assessment, planning and implementation of occupational therapy recommendations within educational and community settings.
- Assist in the development and delivery of training, workshops and learning opportunities for education staff, families and professionals.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across health, education and social care to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.
Essential criteria
- Community working ideally with experience of working in education settings
- MDT Working
- Working with children with SEND
- Extensive post-graduate experience working with children
- Extensive knowledge of Paeds OT - functional skills and executive functioning
- Knowledge and understanding of sensory processing issues and impacts
- Skills to work with children with functional skills / exec functioning issues
- Knowledge of SEND, SEND Reforms and Expert at Hand agenda
- HCPC registered
- Driving licence with own car
- Relevant post-graduate qualifications

- Experience of working with sensory processing
