Role summary
This is a full-time permanent Senior Audiologist position within the Newham Audiology team at Barts Health NHS Trust. The role involves providing independent diagnostic audiological testing and comprehensive hearing aid services for adults across East London, primarily at Vicarage Lane health centre and Newham General Hospital. The successful candidate will also contribute to clinical audit, research, and governance, manage their own workload, and supervise trainees. Applicants must have a Bsc/Msc in Audiology or equivalent and be registered with RCCP or HCPC.
Key responsibilities
- Provide independent diagnostic audiological testing of adults.
- Provide a comprehensive independent hearing aid service to adults, including determining care plans and involving carers/families.
- Take an active role in clinical audit, research, and clinical governance for the Audiology service.
- Plan and prioritise own workload and supervise trainees/students and volunteers as required.
- Be responsible for the smooth running of a specified area of the audiology service and provide a domiciliary service across the London Borough of Newham.
Essential criteria
- Broad audiology experience as a band 5
- Experience of working within the NHS
- Ability to prioritise, innovate & work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Excellent IT skills
- Regular attendance & good time keeping in the workplace
- An enquiring interest in Audiology
- A commitment to offer only a high quality service
- Knowledge of Audiological test procedures
- Deaf Awareness
- Audiology Degree with evidence of clinical competence or MSc in Audiological Science with evidence of clinical competence.
- Registration with RCCP as an Audiologist or HCPC as a Clinical Scientist (Audiology)

- Ability to share knowledge and engage others in projects
- Excellent oral and written communication skills

Desirable criteria
- Small area of responsibility within audiology
- Home visit experience
- Theoretical knowledge of Paediatric Audiology, and advanced Audiological test techniques.
- Evidence of CPD
- British Sign Language
- Membership of BAA and/or BSA
- Awareness of budgetary limitation & constraint

We are seeking an enthusiastic person to join our audiological team in Newham
This is an Adult post in audiology services across East London but predominately at our well-equipped and dedicated health centre at Vicarage Lane health centre and at Newham General Hospital.
The department provides a comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitation service for both adults and children working in the community and hospital sites.
Audiology is managed by Bart's Health and provides services across five east London boroughs namely Tower Hamlets, City & Hackney, Newham, Waltham Forest and Redbridge.
We have 90 plus members of staff including Clinical Scientists, Audiologists, Assistant Audiologists, Audiology apprentices and admin staff.
The successful candidate will be confident, a good communicator, and able to work well within a large team they should be able to undertake audiological diagnostic and rehabilitation services for patients.
You will have a Bsc/Msc in Audiology or equivalent.
You must be registered with either RCCP or HCPC (as a Clinical Scientist).
