Role summary
This fixed-term Mental Health Practitioner role involves working within the Gwent Parent Infant Mental Health Service, primarily linking with Primary Care Mental Health Support Service and Adult Mental Health. The post holder will provide consultation, supervision, advice, training, and support on parent-infant mental health, as well as clinical governance. Key duties include delivering highly specialised assessment and therapeutic services to vulnerable parents of infants up to 2 years old, and providing support and consultation to staff working with children and families up to 7 years. A small clinical caseload will also be managed.
Essential criteria
- Experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse
- Knowledge of infant mental health, including knowledge of child development and attachment theory
- A range of clinical therapeutic skills appropriate to the task. Skilled in the use of assessment and interventions in this specialist area of work

- Experience working professionally with pregnant women, babies, toddlers and

- Aptitude and Abilities
- Ability to contribute to reflective supervision within the team as in other settings

The Gwent Parent Infant Mental Health Service are looking for a Mental Health Practitioner to work within the Early Years Service and primarily develop links with Primary Care Mental Health Support Service (PCMHSS) and Adult Mental Health. Working alongside Health Visiting, and other community settings, providing consultation, supervision, advice, training, support and information about parent-infant mental health, as well as providing the clinical governance to staff working with families with low level mental health, supporting escalation where appropriate.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will deliver an effective, comprehensive and highly specialised assessment and therapeutic service to vulnerable parents of infants up to the age of 2 and where appropriate to the parents and infants together.
