Role summary
The Stop Smoking Practitioner will deliver evidence-based stop smoking interventions, including one-to-one, group, telephone, or online support, in accordance with the NCSCT Standard Treatment Programme. This role involves engaging with service users, providing advice and support using NRT and behavioural change techniques, and assisting in community health events. The practitioner will work with other professionals to embed smoking cessation into routine client care, aiming to maximise health gains and reduce health inequalities in the community.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver evidence-based stop smoking interventions (one to one, drop in, group sessions, telephone, or on-line support) in accordance with the NCSCT Standard Treatment Programme.
- Engage with Service Users and provide smoking cessation advice and support using Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) and behavioural change techniques.
- Assist in delivering and promoting community health events and awareness campaigns across Essex.
- Work with other professionals to embed smoking cessation as part of routine client care.
- Maximise the impact of smoking cessation on health gains and reduce health inequalities within the community.
Essential criteria
- NCSCT Level 2 practitioner
- Evidence of working in public health and in the community
- Proven track record of engagement with people on both an individual level and in group settings
- Experience of multi-agency working
- Car owner/driver or ability to travel independently
