Role summary
This role is for a Speech and Language Therapist to join the Experts at Hand service within Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD). The post-holder will provide specialist support to children and young people with speech, language, and communication needs in community and education settings. This involves offering advice, consultation, training, and direct interventions, working autonomously within a multidisciplinary team. The service aims to build capacity within early years, school, and post-16 settings across Devon and Torbay.
Key responsibilities
- Provide specialist Speech and Language Therapy support within the Experts at Hand service.
- Offer advice, consultation, modelling of strategies, and training.
- Deliver targeted interventions for children and young people.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and autonomously to support clients and professionals.
- Build capacity within early years, school, and post-16 settings.
- Deliver training and offer time-limited direct interventions where indicated.
Essential criteria
- Relevant experience of working with children and young people with speech, language and communication needs in community / education settings
- Knowledge of a broad range of assessment tools relevant to working with children
- Well established knowledge of a broad range of appropriate therapeutic interventions to treat children
- Understanding of the principles of clinical governance /audit
- Understanding of the roles of other professionals (relevant to the client group)
- Knowledge of standards of record keeping
- Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent
- Health Professions Council Licence to Practice
- Registered Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
- Membership of relevant Special Interest Groups

to recruit a 1.0wte Speech and Language Therapist to provide
specialist Speech and Language Therapy support within the Experts at Hand
service through advice, consultation, modelling of strategies, training, and
targeted intervention.
Please note we are also able to consider part time applications above 18.75 hours per week.
The base locations for these will be in Torbay.
The post-holder will work as part of the multidisciplinary team and
autonomously to support children and young people, families, and professionals
by building capacity within early years, school and post-16 settings,

indicated.
