Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Cancer Business Unit within the Oncology department. The role focuses on supporting patient pathways for metastatic and non-metastatic lung cancer patients. You will deliver specialist nursing care, act as a patient advocate, and provide advice and support to junior staff and learners. The position involves working closely with the consultant team to provide patient-centred care.
Key responsibilities
- Join an established team of dynamic Lung cancer CNS's.
- Deliver specialist nursing whilst maintaining and developing a quality service.
- Act as the patient's advocate maintaining privacy and dignity.
- Provide advice and support to junior staff and learners in all aspects of high-quality care.
- Provide support, advice and education to patients/significant others in the management of their care.
- Work closely with the consultant team in delivering patient centred care.
Essential criteria
- Current NMC registration
- substantial post qualification experience plus
- Equivalent level of experience within the speciality
- Significant demonstrable and recent experience of working with Respiratory care, Lung cancer or Oncology
- IT Literate
- Experience in teaching or supporting learners
- Degree in Nursing and specialised courses according to specialty
- Communicates highly complex condition related, sensitive information to patients/ relatives and across the wider healthcare community
- Negotiation, persuasion, motivation, reassurance, facilitation and influencing skills
- Understands and overcomes barriers to communication and acceptance

- Experience of audit

There is a requirement to work between both Derby and Burton sites, however theses posts are predominately RDH (Royal Derby Hospital) base
