Role summary
This role is for an experienced RMN to join the integrated Mental Health & Substance Use Service at HMP Dovegate, a Category B facility. You will provide early screening, assessment, and support for men in custody, managing a caseload and delivering evidence-based interventions. The position involves working collaboratively with individuals, carers, and other professionals within a multi-disciplinary team. You will help rehabilitate and support service users from initial assessment through to discharge, including transfers to other providers.
Key responsibilities
- Take a Recovery focused and holistic approach in working with the people who access our services.
- Deliver care and interventions utilising the stepped care model, including provision of the CPA Framework where appropriate.
- Assess people's needs to develop, implement and evaluate personalised care plans.
- Facilitate therapeutic group work taking the lead where appropriate.
- Deliver evidenced based interventions.
- Line management of Band 5 nurse where appropriate.
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Register.
- Evidence of recent CPD and compliance with NMC revalidation.
- Teaching Certificate including annual update (ENB 603) or related mentoring / coaching qualification
- Considerable experience of working in the mental health field.
- Experience of providing specialist interventions for those with mental health problems, counselling techniques, CBT, motivational interviewing.
- Providing supervision and line management of staff.

We are looking for a senior RMN with experience of working in mental health services to join our integrated Mental Health & Substance Use Service at HMP Dovegate, a Category B facility for remand an sentenced adult males.
You would be joining a professional and compassionate multi disciplinary team committed to Recovery focussed and trauma informed approaches to care. The Service is responsible for assessment, planning and the delivery of a range of evidence based therapeutic interventions to support mental health and substance use needs for the men under our care.
