Role summary
This role is for an EMDR and Complex Trauma Specialist Therapist within the Central Shropshire Community Mental Health Team, working 28 hours per week. The therapist will assess, formulate, and deliver high-quality, evidence-based psychological therapies, primarily EMDR and other NICE recommended approaches, for adults experiencing trauma, including PTSD and Complex PTSD. The position involves managing a clinical caseload, conducting assessments, and contributing to multidisciplinary team consultations. Travel within Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin is required for face-to-face and remote clinical services.
Key responsibilities
- To provide specialist EMDR and Complex Trauma therapies within the Central Shropshire CMHT, working with clients face-to-face or at their home as necessary.
- To be responsible for conducting psychological interviews, deriving information from self-report measures, and interpreting complex data.
- To be skilled in risk assessment and management, maintaining high professional levels of clinical judgement.
- To provide assessment reports, both written and verbal, to referrers of people with a wide range of psychological problems.
- To provide formulation and treatments for PTSD and C-PTSD to an exceptionally high standard to service users with a range of complex psychological distress and mental health problems.
Essential criteria
- Accreditation as an EMDR Europe Practitioner OR EMDR UK approved training compliant with EMDR Europe criteria and standards with well progressed supervised practice and portfolio for accreditation within the next 6 months. Completed a Parts 1-4 and Level 2of EMDR training.
- Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by relevant professional body
- Experience of working as an autonomous EMDR and trauma therapist with people with significant mental health difficulties including Psychosis, Bipolar and Complex Emotional Needs
- Knowledge / training in relation to working with adults with trauma / PTSD & complex-PTSD
Desirable criteria
- oEMDR Europe Accredited Consultant
- oTraining / Qualification in supervision
- Considerable experience of working with people with complex psychological trauma and systemic working.

Job summary
The Central Shropshire Community Mental Health Team has an opportunity for a an EMDR and Complex Trauma Specialist Therapist to join the team working 28 hours per week. In the role you will be travelling as required within Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, providing clinical services directly face to face and remotely.
As an EMDR and Complex Trauma Specialist Therapist, you will assess, formulate and deliver high quality, evidence based psychological therapies for adults experiencing the effects of trauma, including PTSD and Complex PTSD.
You will hold a clinical caseload, providing trauma focused interventions such as EMDR and other NICE recommended approaches (t-CBT, NET) delivered flexibly through mostly face to face and a small number of digital appointments.
You will contribute to assessments, developing collaborative, person centred formulations and treatment plans informed by a psychological understanding of trauma. Accurate use of outcome measures, clinical documentation and electronic records will be an important part of your practice.
