Role summary

This role is for a Band 7 Nurse Manager at Aldershot Combined Medical Practice, leading the civilian nursing team under the Senior Nursing Officer. The successful candidate will deliver advanced primary healthcare, manage day-to-day nursing issues, and contribute to the training and clinical supervision of military medics and junior staff. They will also drive clinical practice improvements through audit and peer review, providing highly specialist, person-centred care.

Essential criteria

  • Experience of leading and promoting health and well-being clinics i.e. smoking cessation, weight management, alcohol misuse, sexual health and cervical screening.
  • Experience of providing care to patients with chronic illnesses e.g. Asthma, Family Planning, Diabetes, Chronic Heart Disease(CHD) and hypertension ensuring continued maintenance of the Chronic Disease Register.
  • Evidence of completion of study in minor illness and minor injury and history taking.

  • To be proficient in relevant Information Technology (IT) systems subject to appropriate training being provided.

  • Advanced Practice Nurse Qualification / post graduate diploma in Advance Practice or successful accreditation with the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) or actively working towards this and can demonstrate equivalent level of competence and experience in clinical assessment and diagnosis).
  • Supporting Learning and Assessment in Practice Qualification or equivalent practice assessors training.
  • In date for Basic Life Support (BLS), Anaphylaxis, Automated External Defibrillation (AED), Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), Safeguarding Level 3 (Children and Adult) or willingness to undertake training.
