Role summary
This is an exciting 12-month fixed-term role for a Primary Care Mental Health Practitioner (PCMHP) to join the Adult Community Mental Health Services in Mid Essex. The practitioner will work within General Practice, triaging, assessing, and following up patients with common mental health disorders. The role involves collaborative working with GPs and other teams, focusing on prevention, early detection, and intervention, while promoting self-management. Essential criteria
- Registered Mental Health (RMN)
- Risk Management training and/or Suicide Prevention training
- Mentorship Preparation
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD)
- Meet the requirements for revalidation as set out by the NMC
- High standard of education
- Good written and spoken English
Desirable criteria
- Venepuncture trained
- Level 2 accredited Stop Smoking advisor
- Trained to deliver Physical Health screening
- Skills/Experience
- Experience of working within a Mental Health setting
- Literate in IT/Computer Skills
- Good oral communication skills based on fluency on the English Language
- Ability to inspire confidence in the MDT, service users, carers and junior staff.

- Ability to manage difficult situations sensitively by listening, showing tolerance and remaining objective.
- Ability to identify barriers to change and develop strategies to overcome them
- Self -motivated with the ability to use supervision effectively and be resourceful in a clinical setting
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to contain the emotional impact of working with people with Mental Health problems
