Role summary
This role is for an experienced nurse to join the Bedfordshire Continence Service as a Senior Continence Nurse Advisor. You will manage a complex caseload of patients with bladder and bowel dysfunction, providing specialised assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. The position involves working autonomously within a multidisciplinary team, developing care pathways, and promoting best practice in continence care. It's an opportunity to contribute to service development, education, and quality improvement.
Essential criteria
- Registered General Nurse
- Demonstrate evidence-based practice and up-to-date clinical skills
- Evidence of post registration qualification in relevant field or equivalent professional experience working within continence services
- Demonstrate clinical skills and dexterity
- Demonstrate an understanding of clinical governance and application to clinical practice
Desirable criteria
- Nurse prescribing qualification or willingness to undertake
- Relevant teaching/mentorship qualification or commitment to undertake
- Post-registration nursing experience, including community experience
- Other
- Current driving licence
- Ability to travel across sites and across Bedfordshire to meet patient needs and attend meetings, etc.
- Able to demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, using a variety of methods e.g. verbally, written and IT.
- Evidence of and commitment to multi-professional working
- Understanding of the interface between primary and secondary care
- Comprehensive understanding of partnership working
- Literate in IT/Computer Skills
- Knowledge of the principles of Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults and Children
- Demonstrate an understanding of national government initiatives in health & social care & how they impact on local services.
- Knowledge of the principles of health promotion and prevention of illness
- Good oral communication skills based on fluency on the English language
