Role summary
This role is for a qualified and registered Dental Nurse to join the Special Care Dentistry team at Ashton Health Centre in Preston. The successful candidate will work 22.5 hours per week, assisting clinicians, providing oral health advice, and chaperoning patients. The position offers opportunities for post-registration qualifications and professional development within a supportive team environment.
Key responsibilities
- Communicate daily with staff, service users, parents/carers, and health professionals.
- Provide oral health information and advice to service users, parents, and carers.
- Assist clinicians during treatment, anticipating their needs and those of the service user.
- Act as a chaperone for service users.
- Care for and supervise service users undergoing general anaesthesia, collaborating with anaesthetic staff.
- Assess individual patient needs, offer appropriate advice, and prioritise dental emergencies.
Essential criteria
- Qualified Dental Nurse Registered with the GDC
- Knowledge of the local dental situation
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to work to deadlines
- Experience of assisting chairside in the dental surgery for a minimum of 2 years post qualification
- Experience of assisting chairside in the dental surgery within the last 2 years

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Qualified, and registered Dental Nurse to join our team at Ashton Health Centre, Department of special care dentistry, Preston within the Lancashire and South Cumbria Dental Service.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated individual, with excellent communication skills to assist in the delivery of Special care dental services. The post requires the individual to work 22.5 hours per week, over 3 days. You must be a qualified dental nurse, and you will have a good standard of education and the ability to work well within a team. Post qualifications are desirable but not essential.
You will mainly work at your base clinic; however, you may also be required to work at our other clinics, covering sickness and annual leave. You will have opportunity to study for post registration qualifications including sedation and will have access to plentiful CPD and clinical supervision.
