Role summary

This is a 3-month fixed-term Finance Assistant role within the Operational Finance Team, offering flexible working arrangements, anticipated to be around 2 days per week. The post involves supporting a Business Support Accountant and ensuring financial work adheres to trust instructions and national accounting standards. Additional hours may be required during peak reporting periods. The role is with Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, a highly-rated mental health and learning disability trust.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to a Business Support Accountant.
  • Play a key role in ensuring work completed is in line with the trust's Standing Financial Instructions.
  • Ensure work adheres to standing orders and national accounting standards.

Essential criteria

  • A detailed understanding of accounting procedures gained from a Diploma/NVQ Level 3 in an accounting based qualification (Association of Accounting Technicians/Degree Level/T Level etc.)
  • Evidence of continuing professional and personal development

Desirable criteria

  • Drive to develop and continue professional accountancy studies
  • Relevant practical experience of working in a finance department
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles
  • Knowledge of NHS Finance regime
  • Experience of working within Public Sector finance
  • Experience of carrying out training on systems process/procedures
  • Ability to plan one's own workload
  • Ability to manage and prioritise competing objectives during busy times
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet ad-hoc, monthly and annual deadlines
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with key people both internal and external to the organisation
  • Ability to liaise effectively with other departments to identify and resolve operational issues
  • To be competent in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
  • Experience of using financial software packages to extract and provide information
  • Knowledge of the health economy
  • An understanding of Healthcare service issues
  • Advanced EXCEL spreadsheet skill
  • Advanced Financial systems skills

Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Finance Assistant to join the Operational Finance Team on a 3-month fixed-term basis. The post offers flexible working arrangements and is anticipated to average around 2 days per week.

Due to the nature of finance reporting timetables, additional hours may be required during peak periods, particularly around month-end, with fewer hours required during quieter periods. The exact working pattern will be agreed in line with needs of the department.
