Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Rehabilitation and Recovery service at Grove Avenue, a mixed-gender rehabilitation unit for service users with psychosis. The unit provides inpatient support and a range of multi-disciplinary assessments and treatment interventions. The aim is to reduce illness symptoms, improve social functioning, and assist service users in achieving their recovery goals. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating rehabilitation interventions.
Key responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate rehabilitation interventions for service users with complex psychosis.
- Upskill and improve service users' ADL, social, financial, and budgeting skills.
- Provide physical and mental health interventions.
- Offer support and guidance with housing & accommodation, recreational and vocational interventions.
- Develop OT interventions using a range of assessments and guidelines, including MOHOST and formulations.
Essential criteria
- oHas experience of work within mental health settings or in a previous role where mental health awareness is evidenced.
- Is able to describe support and supervision offered to colleagues, students of all professional groups and support staff
- oApplicant is HCPC registered as an Occupational Therapist
- oIs able to demonstrate leadership skills, works well with others and demonstrates good communication skills based on self description.
- oAccesses supervision and maintains links with all professional forums independently
Desirable criteria
- oEvidence of detailed assessment skills, participation in team formulation and collaborative planning is clearly documented.
- oHas listed evidence of training post graduation, to include mandatory training but also evidence of additional training in clinical skills or leadership
- oApplicant has an understanding of the importance of providing personalised care in a way that is respectful of a service users cultural needs and diversity

Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward thinking Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our Rehabilitation and Recovery service based at Grove Avenue.
Grove Avenue is mixed gender rehabilitation unit for service users with a primary diagnosis of psychosis, and is part of Steps to Recovery. Grove Avenue provides rehabilitation in an unlocked facility for patients who are either receiving treatment under Section 3 of the Mental Health Act, or informal patients.
We offer a specialist service within a rehabilitation environment primarily for people with severe and enduring mental health problems and associated behaviours that require a period of in-patient support. A full range of multi-disciplinary assessments and treatment interventions are offered which have been developed using evidence based best practice to offer an effective service to service users, collaborating with families and carers. The service aims to provide appropriate therapeutic engagement to reduce symptoms of illness, improve service user social functioning, quality of life moving forward and assisting service users to achieve their recovery goals and aspirations for the future.
