Role summary
This role involves providing administrative support to the Obstetrics & Gynaecology department, assisting Consultants and their clinical teams. Key responsibilities
- Proof-reading and editing clinical letters and reports to ensure accuracy and clarity.
- Carrying out a variety of administrative tasks to maintain organisation and efficiency.
- Providing support to clinicians and contributing to an improved patient experience.
- Handling patient contact via telephone, dealing sympathetically with patients and relatives.
- Working unsupervised and under pressure to support clinical teams.
Essential criteria
- Evidence of good general education to GCSE Grade C or above, including maths and English
- NVQ3 Business & Administration or equivalent
- IT training on office software packages.
- Good level of recent administration experience in a busy office environment
- Customer service experience
- Excellent typing, word processing and audio typing skills.
- IT skills for data entry
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to communicate with, co-ordinate and liaise with a multidisciplinary team
- Good organisational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work alone and use own initiative and manage own workload for best effect, work without direct supervision and delegate to others
Desirable criteria
- NVQ 4 in administration or equivalent
- NHS administrative experience
- Ability to handle difficult situations
