Role summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a registered clinician to join the Durham and Darlington CAMHS crisis team. Essential criteria

  • Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council - RNMH or RNLD (RNSC - CAMHS only ) - RGN (If appropriate)
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Recognised Practice Supervisor and/or Practice Assessor, clinical educator or equivalent. Must be achieved within 6 months
  • Trained in Clinical Supervision and providing clinical supervision OR willingness to work towards within 6 months
  • 18 months post qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework)
  • Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers
  • Providing clinical supervision to individuals or groups as professionally appropriate
  • Supervising or assessing students on practice placement.
  • Working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Quality improvement activities
  • Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act)in the designated field.
  • Detailed understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice
  • Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a registered clinician to become part of the Durham and Darlington CAMHS crisis team. The post is for a band 6 clinician who has a keen interest in children's mental health and is able to work in a fast paced but rewarding service. The post is to work as an autonomous clinician carrying out crisis assessments and being able to formulate plans for young people and their carers during times of distress.

The crisis team is a 24 hour service that caters for children and young people up to the age of 18 living in the Durham and Darlington area and offers rapid assessment of mental health and emotional needs for children in crisis.

Candidates must have 18 months post qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework.

Main duties of the job

The main duties involve assessment of mental health and emotional needs of children who present in crisis. The clinician needs to be able to carry out a thorough risk assessment and be able to formulate safety plans with children and their carers during times of distress.

Offer telephone support to children, young people, carers and other professionals who need advice and guidance around emotional distress via 111(2) system
