Role summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered General Nurse or Paramedic to undertake a Band 7 Nurse Practitioner or Paramedic Practitioner role at Halewood Walk-in Centre. The post holder will work autonomously within a nurse-led service, assessing and treating patients with minor illnesses and injuries. Responsibilities include holistic assessments, clinical decision-making, and taking charge of shifts. A flexible approach is essential, as the role requires working across various Walk-in Centre services and shift patterns within Merseycare's sites.

  • Significant experience of working in a relevant role e.g. Walk In Centre, Primary Care, A/E
  • Experience of participating in nurse development agendas, e.g.: preceptorship, mentorship, clinical supervision
  • Experience of setting standards and quality service delivery
  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration. (RSCN for Smithdown Childrens WIC) or Allied Health Professional (AHP)
  • Mentorship qualification level 4
  • Additional qualifications, PGC in advanced practice

  • A degree or degree level post registration qualification
  • Non-medical prescribing Supplementary/Independent
  • Significant knowledge of communicating across professional and organisational boundaries
  • In depth awareness of current legislation in relation to Walk in Centres and the Clinical Governance agenda including risk management
  • Proven high level clinical competency in injury and illness assessment clinical examination, history taking, diagnosis and treatment
  • Understanding of wider political NHS agenda
  • Evidence of contributing to nurse development agendas

Job summary

The service is nurse led and offers both an appointment or walk-in service

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work within a team as an autonomous practitioner and be accountable and responsible for the health care management of the client/patient group.

The post holder will have the ability to perform holistic assessments to interpret, diagnose and treat, concluding to discharge with an appropriate outcome or determining the most relevant pathway for the patient.

The post holder will have responsibility for taking charge of the shift and managing service provision in the absence of the Clinical Nurse Manager/ Team Leader.

The post holder must show commitment to the support and development of others to ensure a consistent, high quality delivery of service underpinned by the Personal Performance Planning process and Clinical Supervision.

A flexible approach is essential to this role. Whilst the post holder's base will be Halewood WIC, they will be required to work across all Walk-in Centre services and through all shift patterns as required across Merse
