Role summary
This role is for a Senior Theatre Practitioner (ODP or Anaesthetic Nurse) to join a multidisciplinary team, focusing on providing quality and compassionate care to patients. The service includes multiple theatres covering various surgical specialities. The position primarily involves acting as a Surgical First Assistant (SFA) for emergency obstetrics out-of-hours, as well as supporting general surgical emergencies. The successful candidate will join the anaesthetic/on-call rota and will be supported with ongoing education and career growth towards a senior leadership position.
Essential criteria
- Willingness to undertake degree study
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
- Awareness of NHS Plan targets relating to patients who attend the Theatre
- Knowledge of Trust Policies and Procedures
- Able to organise workload of others and delegate
- Able to demonstrate knowledge and skills in a senior role in theatres
- SFA qualification
- Physical Skills
- Physically capable of performing the role and responsibilities expected of the post holder e.g. manual handling of patientsv
- Aptitudes
- Act as professional role model
- Able to use initiative to cope in a variety of situations

Our service consists of 4 Main theatre, 2 Day surgery theatres, 1 ophthalmology theatre and 1 Maternity theatre. We can provide experience in a number of surgical specialities including:
General Surgery, Breast Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Gynaecology, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Urology, Emergency Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology.
