Role summary
This role is for a Substance Misuse Prescribing Nurse who will provide access to medications for withdrawal management and detoxification in clinical or domiciliary settings. The nurse will encourage service users towards recovery, promote engagement with treatment plans, and offer support for long-term condition compliance. Essential criteria
- Qualified registered nurse
- The post holder is required to be a qualified NMP
- Access to vehicle, with a full driving license

- RCGP certificates for Drugs part 1 RCGP alcohol certificate
- Awareness of social context of substance misuse
- Awareness of the principles of audit
- Up to date knowledge of relevant prescribing guidelines
- Understanding of complexities of recovery-oriented substance misuse treatment and the constrictions and opportunities inherent in the primary care sector
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Understanding of long term conditions and effects of substance abuse on health issues
- Ability to act as a service user advocate.
- To be able to work autonomously and also within a team.
- Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills
- Solution focused
- Have a good understanding of effective team working.
- The ability to prepare, clear, concise and accurate reports and to be able to present these.
- Able to use Microsoft applications and electronic contemporaneous notes
