Role summary

This role involves managing the operational Portering team, ensuring a comprehensive, professional, and responsive service. The post holder will provide clear leadership, ensuring efficient and effective high-quality service delivery. Responsibilities include day-to-day operational oversight of Facilities functions like Portering, Linen Services, and Waste management on-site. The manager will also support service improvement projects and ensure departmental objectives are met.

Essential criteria

  • Management Qualification or equivalent experience in Facilities Services management at NVQ Level 4
  • Formal training or equivalent experience of Food Safety up to Level 4
  • COSHH, Infection Prevention Control
  • Health & Safety IOSH Management of Risk
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience of working at an operational management level in a similar field within NHS or private sector
  • Sound knowledge across all Facilities Services disciplines and willingness to learn
  • People management experience including Supervisory of a Team.
  • Experience of co-ordinating and developing a range of diverse services

  • Demonstrate experience of working under pressure to deadlines
  • Communication and relationship skills
  • Communicates well at all levels with tact and diplomacy
  • Excellent oral and Communication skills including Complex report writing and presentation skills
  • Analytical and Judgement skills

  • Required to work within an unpredictable and demanding environment requiring concentration when undertaking work tasks.
