Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic Mental Health Professional to join the Wellbeing Team at HMP Eastwood Park, working with vulnerable women in a recovery-focused model. You will provide effective interventions and treatments for mental health needs, working autonomously to conduct emergency assessments and deliver specialist therapeutic interventions. The post involves working within a multi-disciplinary team in the prison, which houses up to 442 women, and requires working a shift pattern.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive mental health assessments, including risk evaluation and physical health, for service users in crisis.
- Develop, deliver, and review complex treatment programmes using evidence-based practice and strategies to manage risk.
- Act as care coordinator for service users and provide defined interventions to individuals on other workers' caseloads.
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate defined, specialist therapeutic interventions, such as individual/group therapy, psychological treatments, and medication management.
- Deliver activities to improve carers' ability to support service users and maintain good partnership working with other services.
- Facilitate the development of comprehensive crisis plans, rapid access plans, and advance statements in collaboration with service users and carers.
Essential criteria
- Diploma level/Degree in relevant Health/Social Care Profession
- Current registration with NMC or HCPC
- Substantial post qualification experience in front line
- Is able to deliver from a range of possible key therapeutic interventions
- Excellent risk assessment and risk management skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of relevant legal framework MHA MCA
Desirable criteria
- 2 years experience of acute mental health
- Experience in a wide range of settings

We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated Mental Health Professional to join the Wellbeing Team (Mental Health and Psycho-Social Substance Misuse) at HMP Eastwood Park.

NOTE: This post is open to newly qualified social workers. In line with AWP trust policy all newly qualified social workers (NQSW) will be recruited initially at Band 5 level, regardless of advertised role banding. All NQSW's are expected to successfully complete their ASYE within 2 years of employment, unless there are exceptional circumstances in which case it may be extended for a further 2 years.
