Role summary

This role is for a Deputy Sister within the Same Day Emergency Care Unit, working with a multidisciplinary team to deliver specialist care to patients with medical conditions and lead nurse clinics. You will provide clinical, professional, and operational leadership, regularly taking charge of the unit in the absence of the ward Sister. The position involves ensuring high standards of patient care and safety, collaborating with other services, and actively supporting the development and teaching of staff and learners. You will contribute to service improvement and innovation.

Essential criteria

  • Mentorship programme or equivalent teaching qualification
  • 1st Level Registered General Nurse
  • Further professional studies relevant to the clinical area

  • Degree in Nursing or Equivalent
  • KNOWLEDGE and EXPERIENCE
  • Able to contribute to the development of students, nurses and oneself
  • Awareness and understanding of current health issues and in particular to demonstrate a good understanding of the NHS Plan and recent initiatives
  • Previous experience of leading change in a clinical environment An understanding of HR processes and issues pertaining to staff management An understanding of nursing issues in relation to finance management
