Role summary
This role is for an experienced and motivated Physiotherapist to join the Long Covid and Multiple Symptoms Multidisciplinary Service. You will assess and treat patients with complex symptoms across various settings, including clinic, community, home, and virtually. The service is therapy-led and medically supported, focusing on rehabilitation and supported self-management. This is an excellent opportunity to develop specialist rehabilitation skills within an innovative and expanding service.
Key responsibilities
- Perform specialised and advanced assessments and treatments as part of the Post Covid and Multiple Symptoms Service.
- Provide supervision and support development of therapy assistants and students.
- Work autonomously, frequently as a lone practitioner, across various community and outpatient settings.
- Work across Lambeth and Southwark, accessing and recording information, and communicating with patients and colleagues.
- Support the service's commitment to meeting client needs and delivering excellence, including flexible working hours and contributing to rotas.
Essential criteria
- Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
- HCPC registration
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development including attendance at recent post graduate courses relevant to the clinical field
- Broad range of experience, as an autonomous practitioner, at Band 5 level in acute and chronic respiratory care, acute and chronic rehabilitation and musculoskeletal work in NHS
- Experience of working as member of a physio team and of a multidisciplinary team
- Participation in on-call and weekend rota work
- Remains updated with professional practice and new research
- Understand the legal responsibilities of the profession
- Able to present information, written and orally, in a clear and logical manner
- Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate
- Ability to work with multi/interdisciplinary team and set team goals
- Understanding of Clinical Governance and the implications for physiotherapy services including experience of quality issues and audit
- Ability to comprehend and work within the Trust's policies of data protection, equal opportunities and Health and Safety to meet the differing needs of the patients
- Able to carry out moderate to intense physical effort throughout the working day and carry out concurrent activities including therapeutic handling and manual techniques
- Ability to cope with working in a stressful environment including frequent interruptions when holding a bleep
- Able to perform on call and weekend duties
Desirable criteria
- Membership of Special Interest Group
- Previous experience at Band 6 level.
- Experience of working in community or Pos covid services
- Supervision of Band 5, PTA and Student
- Experience of teaching on In service programmes and to the MDT
- Experience of the research process
- Competent IT & Presentation skills
- Experience of running courses - internal / external
- Evidence of participation in research / audit
- Supervision of other staff e.g. physiotherapy assistant / Technical Instructor
- Committee membership e.g. Health and Safety

Job summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Physiotherapist to join the Long Covid and Multiple Symptoms Multidisciplinary Service. This role involves assessing and treating patients with complex symptoms such as fatigue, breathlessness, brain fog, pain, anxiety and sleep difficulties across clinic, community, home and virtual settings.
This is a unique therapy-led, medically supported service consisting of occupational therapists, physiotherapist, clinical psychologists, care coordinators and clinical support staffThe service includes two pathways; digital education programme and a Lambeth and Southwark face-to-face assessment, and interventions including 1:1 intervention or a face-to-face group programme. Interventions are provided in a variety of locations including home, clinic, community and virtually.
The post holder will contribute to all aspects of the patient pathway, including assessment, supported self-management and rehabilitation, participate in multidisciplinary discussions, and play an active role in ongoing service development.
