Role summary
This is a rotational Foundation Pharmacist role offering progression from Band 6 to Band 7 within the Brent/Harrow Pharmacy team. The post involves developing clinical and professional knowledge in both physical and mental healthcare settings. You will participate in weekend duty and on-call rotas and are expected to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy. The role involves rotating between Harrow and Brent sites, working in inpatient and community mental health team settings.
Key responsibilities
- Demonstrate a person-centred approach and effective interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Participate in weekend duty and on-call rotas after induction and training.
- Work towards completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy.
- Provide specialist mental health services to sites such as in-patients, home treatment teams and community mental health teams.
- Rotate between Harrow and Brent sites, working in both inpatient and community mental health team settings.
Essential criteria
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Master's Degree in pharmacy followed by the completion of pre- registration training and experience.
- To be working towards or willing to work towards a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy.
- Good knowledge and understanding of therapeutic areas and pharmacological treatments obtaining through the completion of degree course and pre-registration year.
- Experience of working with patients either in a hospital or community setting.
- To have knowledge and understanding of basic clinical governance principles.
- Experience of working to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Accuracy in dispensing and checking prescriptions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- IT literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
- Evidence of CPD and acquiring new skills and knowledge
- To have an awareness of government and professional policy/legislation that affects the delivery of pharmacy services e.g. NICE, RPS
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable criteria
- Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society(RPS)
- Experience in hospital pharmacy
- Experience training other healthcare professionals
- Experience of supervising junior pharmacy staff
