Role summary

This role is for an HR and Organisational Development Support Officer within the People Team of NHS Northamptonshire ICB and NHS Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland ICB. It involves supporting a range of HR and OD activities, including employee relations, staff engagement, wellbeing, and culture change programmes. The officer will provide advice and support to managers and staff, working closely with internal and external stakeholders. The position requires experience in an HR or OD environment, strong organisational skills, and excellent communication abilities.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide professional, comprehensive and timely Human Resources (HR) and Organisational Development (OD) advice and support to managers and staff.
  • Support planning, coordination, and delivery of HR, OD and engagement activities.
  • Maintain records, reports, and databases in line with project plans, statutory and governance requirements.
  • Support and advise managers on employee relations casework, including sickness, conduct, performance, grievance and harassment issues.
  • Work with managers and Staff Side representatives to develop a culture of healthy employee relations, harmonious partnership working, staff involvement and engagement.
  • Participate in the local implementation of the ICB's Health and wellbeing agenda.

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrable knowledge of HR / OD practice (e.g. employment law / the OD Consultancy cycle) through training and / or experience to degree level (or equivalent)
  • Certificate in Personnel Practice and willingness to work towards CIPD Qualification
  • Experience in an operational HR or OD role, covering a range of responsibilities across the employee life cycle (e.g. employee relations management, facilitation)
  • Experience of advising on application of terms and conditions of employment / organisational policies
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures, project management or information analysis
  • Advanced knowledge of IT systems including MS suite of packages (including co-pilot / AI) and information systems relevant to role
  • Ability to build and maintain positive and productive working relationships with colleagues at all levels
  • Confident to respectfully challenge behaviours or practice not in line with organisational policy or values
  • Interpersonal and oral/written communication skills in order to communicate complex information and administrative matters
  • Strong team player and able to facilitate effective team working in others
  • Ability to pull together comprehensive draft reports, data and letters.
  • Ability to write outcome letters following employee relations processes which are compliant with organisational policy and employment law
  • Negotiating, networking and persuasive skills
  • Problem solving skills and ability to respond to sudden unexpected demands
  • Ability to plan and prioritise a varied workload
  • Effective management of multiple email inboxes
  • Ability to work on own initiative and organise own workload with minimal supervision working to tight and often changing timescales

Job summary

NHS Northamptonshire ICB and NHS Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland ICB HR and OD Support Officer to join our People Team and help shape a positive employee experience across our Cluster organisation.
