Role summary
This role is for a Rotational Clinical Pharmacist to join a development programme at UCLH. The pharmacist will provide direct patient care, applying therapeutic knowledge to ensure safe and effective medication use for inpatients and outpatients. The role involves rotations through various clinical areas, exposure to cutting-edge practices, and participation in core directorate activities like budget planning and clinical governance. The successful candidate will also contribute to the clinical supervision and mentorship of students and trainees.
Essential criteria
- Completion of a master's degree in pharmacy (or equivalent)
- Full registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Demonstrable evidence of competence in general clinical practice, including medicine and surgery
- Postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy, or satisfactory evidence of equivalent competence, as demonstrated within a practice portfolio Applicants undertaking the JPB Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice will be expected to have completed at least two FS2 modules
- Aware of models of non-medical prescribing
- Meets expected levels of practice as defined by others
- Demonstrates a broad knowledge of pharmacy practice

Job summary
We are looking for bright and enthusiastic pharmacists, with the motivation to develop their clinical knowledge and skills in practice, to join our development programme for clinical pharmacists.
The programme includes year-long rotations through areas such as acute medicine, elderly care and long-term conditions, gastroenterology, critical care, urology, thoracic surgery, neurosciences, hyperacute stroke, HIV and sexual health, and women's health including neonates.
Main duties of the job
Your principal job role will focus on direct patient care, applying your therapeutics knowledge and skills to ensure that all our patients receive safe and effective medication throughout their time with the Trust, as both an inpatient and outpatient. You will use your excellent analytical skills to gather and process relevant information held within our electronic health records system, Epic, to achieve optimal outcomes.
Many of the rotations support tertiary services and offer exposure and experience of cutting-edge practice in rapidly developing diagnostic and therapeutic areas, which require continually evolving approaches to medicines management.
