Role summary
This is a developmental role for an experienced Registered Nurse interested in liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma. You will join a specialist Liver Nursing Team, supporting the delivery of a Trust-wide liver service and coordinating patient care. Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- Post-registration qualification or module in gastroenterology, hepatology, or long-term conditions
- Knowledge & Experience
- Relevant post-registration experience in gastroenterology, hepatology, or acute medicine
- Understanding of liver disease, including cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma
- Experience working within a specialist hepatology or gastroenterology service
- Resilient and able to manage the emotional demands of caring for patients with chronic and sometimes life-limiting disease

Associate Liver Clinical Nurse Specialist
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered Nurse with an interest in liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma to join our specialist Liver Nursing Team in a developmental role.
This post has been created to support the delivery of a Trust-wide liver service, ensuring patients receive high-quality, consistent care across Mid and South Essex. Working alongside the Liver Clinical Nurse Specialists, you will contribute to the development and delivery of specialist liver services across a range of clinical settings.
Supported by the Liver CNS team, you will play a key role in coordinating care, supporting patients throughout their treatment journey, and improving outcomes through patient education, early intervention, and effective pathway management. You will also support liver surveillance programmes and initiatives to enhance patient experience and service quality.
The role provides an excellent opportunity to develop specialist knowledge in hepatology while gaining exposure to clinical trials and research through close collaboration with the Trust's Research and Development team.
