Role summary
This role is for an experienced, multi-skilled Estates Mobile Technician to join the Estates team at Erleigh House, Reading. You will provide day-to-day engineering and building maintenance across various Berkshire Healthcare sites, ensuring clinical and support environments are safe and operational. The position involves diagnosing faults, working independently, supporting colleagues and contractors, and delivering high-quality planned and reactive maintenance. You will travel between Trust sites using a provided vehicle and participate in an on-call rota.
Essential criteria
- City & Guilds, HNC, apprenticeship, NVQ equivalent or other approved equivalent training in mechanical, electrical, plumbing or building engineering, with skills across multiple trades
Desirable criteria
- Gas Safe registered or working towards registration
- Previous Experience
- Significant and relevant post-apprenticeship work experience gained over several years
- Industrial maintenance experience
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of plant and machinery across a wide range of services, including boilers, air conditioning, fire alarms, medical gases, sterilisers, nurse-call systems and other equipment
- Capable of providing work supervision of contractors
- Ability to participate in the on-call rota.
- Prepared to undertake cross-trade work.
- Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with staff and clients.
- Ability to work alone and take the initiative within the limits of personal experience and knowledge.
- Additional Requirements
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to drive
- Able to undertake the requirements of Working at Height and confined space working as needed.
- Maintain an acceptable appearance, using the overalls and identification badges supplied by the Trust

Job summary
We are looking for an experienced, practical and flexible Estates Mobile Technician (Multi-Skilled) to join our Estates team based at Erleigh House, Reading. You will provide day-to-day engineering and building maintenance across Berkshire Healthcare sites, helping to keep our clinical and support environments safe, reliable and operational. The role suits a multi-skilled technician who can diagnose faults, work independently, support colleagues and contractors, and deliver high-quality planned and reactive maintenance across a broad range of building and engineering services. You will travel independently between Trust sites across Berkshire using a Trust provided vehicle and participate in the on-call rota, including working outside normal hours when required.
Main duties of the job
- Carry out planned and reactive engineering and building maintenance across Trust-owned, managed and occupied sites.
- Diagnose and resolve complex faults across plant, equipment, electrical and mechanical systems and building fabric.
- Complete PPM activities and support statutory compliance, including Legionella controls, fire systems, lifts, electrical systems and boilers.
- Record labour, materials and job activity accurately on the MICAD Helpdes
