Role summary
This role involves supporting practitioners across the Trust with safeguarding adult concerns, acting as a lead practitioner in a defined geographical area, and taking a thematic lead for specific safeguarding practices. The post holder will provide specialist professional advice, participate in policy development, and deliver training. It requires a forward-thinking individual with a proven track record in safeguarding and a professional qualification in health and social care.
Key responsibilities
- Work Trust wide supporting AWP practitioners with management of safeguarding concerns affecting their service users.
- Take the lead for safeguarding arrangements in the locality including completing multi-agency audits and writing IMRs for safeguarding adult reviews.
- Support practitioners with safeguarding meetings and multi-agency strategy discussions.
- Provide specialist professional advice on managing adult safeguarding cases, MAPPA, Prevent, safeguarding children, and domestic abuse cases.
- Participate in the development and implementation of appropriate policy and performance frameworks, and deliver specialist safeguarding training.
- Be responsible for the management and reporting of specific projects and deputise for the Trust Deputy/Head of Safeguarding as required.
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse, Social Worker or other appropriate professional registration, with substantial clinical experience, and management experience in a specialist safeguarding role
- Advanced/expert understanding/application of relevant practice/standards/audit in relation to Safeguarding Adults
- Knowledge and experience of the legislative framework and practice of safeguarding and public protection including information sharing and governance, consent and confidentiality
- Proven leadership/management experience, able to demonstrate examples of positive impact/change within service delivery/practice at an advanced level
- Detailed and up-to-date knowledge of policies, statutory regulations and guidance relating to Safeguarding- Vulnerable people especially adults and a working knowledge of guidance relating to Safeguarding Children and young people at risk
