Role summary
This role is for a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant within the Adult Community Nursing Service in Hounslow. The successful candidate will perform clinical duties such as venepuncture, blood pressure monitoring, and simple wound dressings, under the supervision of a registered nurse. They will also communicate with patients and other healthcare professionals to ensure positive health outcomes. The service operates seven days a week, but this specific role requires working 08:30 to 16:30 with no weekends.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out clinical duties and undertake clinical skills (e.g., venepuncture, BP, pulse, temperature, urinalysis, blood glucose monitoring, simple wound dressings, continence reviews) after training and competence assessment.
- Undertake basic duties as delegated and overseen by the registered nurse, reporting any changes in a patient's condition in a timely way.
- Liaise with other healthcare and multi-agency workers to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to care.
- Communicate with patients at a time and level appropriate to their needs to promote positive health.
Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE Standard; A-C including English and Maths
- Practical knowledge acquired through training, short courses and/or experience in health or social care related setting
- Providing care in a health or social care related setting
- Working in a healthcare environment
- Professional standards including confidentiality and clinical governance
- Infection prevention and control standards
- Basic competency in literacy and numeracy
- IT literate with ability to use databases and other software packages
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Able to produce well written and timely clinical records
- Basic clinical skills e.g., blood pressure, temperature, pulse, urinalysis, blood glucose monitoring and Venepuncture
- Ability to communicate and build rapport with patients, families, carers, colleagues, and other professionals to progress the care of the patient
- Ability to follow guidelines and procedures within agreed boundaries
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to participate in service and organisational change
- Ability to undertake administrative and clerical duties as required.
- Ability to review and maintain clinical supplies and equipment.
Desirable criteria
- Health Care certificate
- Working in a community setting
- Understanding of the impact of Mental Health e.g., dementia, depression, on the management of medical and long-term conditions
- Risk assessment and management
- knowledge of health and safety and personal safety issues
- Safeguarding Adults & Children
- Understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Developed clinical skills, e.g., continence care, containment product assessment and review

We are currently looking for a Band 3 health Care support worker to work across the Hounslow areas based at the Bedfont Clinic, Imperial Road. The service operates from 0700 until 1900 seven days a week but the candidate will be required to work 08:30 to 16:30 with no weekends.
