Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic individual to join the Aseptic Services team, supervising and supporting activities within the Aseptic Production Unit. The post holder will carry out senior duties across the Chemotherapy, Parenteral Nutrition, and Intravenous Additive Services. This involves assisting with cytotoxic reconstitution, production of adult and neonatal products, and offering a range of products for internal and external customers. The successful applicant will also be responsible for developing support services and implementing change.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise and develop support services within the aseptic service.
- Implement change within the aseptic service.
- Assist with providing a cytotoxic reconstitution service in the Chemotherapy Service.
- Assist with the production of adult and neonatal products in the Parenteral Nutrition Service.
- Offer an extensive range of products for both internal patients and external customers in the Intravenous Additive Service.
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable experience working in a pharmacy environment
- Experience of working in a team
- Experience of dispensing prescriptions or preparation or aseptic products
- NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Services or Level 2 Science Manufacturing Technician or equivalent
- Knowledge of procedures for own pharmacy area - on the job training, experience to NVQ3 or equivalent level
- Knowledge of stock control systems and storage of medication
- Clear and accurate written communication skills
- Ability to use different IT applications
- Methodical with attention to detail
- Ability to train others
Desirable criteria
- Willingness to complete NVQ 3 in Pharmacy Services, Science Manufacturing Technician or equivalent,
- Knowledge of hospital pharmacy supply and discharge planning
- Able to relate to all grades of staff within a multidisciplinary team
