Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Infection Prevention and Control Team at Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as a Band 3 Support Worker. The role involves supporting the team in developing, maintaining, and sustaining all aspects of infection prevention and control service delivery, including auditing and data collection. You will work closely with specialist nurses and other healthcare partners, contributing to training and education programs. The position requires participation in a seven-day working rota and travel to Ellesmere Port Hospital.
Key responsibilities
- Support the Infection Prevention and Control Team with the assessment of patients' nursing/clinical needs in relation to infection prevention and control.
- Collect and report information, maintaining accurate patient records of any infection prevention and control advice given.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with patients, carers/relatives and service users, and professionals across health and social services.
- Support with the undertaking audits of compliance with infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
- Participate in the dissemination of audit findings and support the collation of action plans.
- Collect relevant and valid surveillance data using electronic/paper data capture systems.
Essential criteria
- NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) or working towards (Health or Social Care).
- Previous experience as a Health Care Support worker /Clinical Support worker in a Health care setting
Desirable criteria
- A1/A2 assessor qualification (or equivalent) or willingness to undertake
- Has understanding and awareness of infection control issues within national and political context
- Experience of undertaking or supporting with auditing.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Infection Prevention and Control Team at the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
We are looking to appoint a Band 3 Infection Prevention and Control Support Worker, to be based at the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, also involving travel to our second site at Ellesmere Port Hospital.
You will be joining a highly motivated and proactive team and will have an active role in providing support to develop, maintain and sustain all aspects of infection prevention and control service delivery within the Trust; working closely with the Infection Prevention and Control Specialist Nurses, other team members and other healthcare partners/agencies. This role will require individuals to be able to take part in a seven day working rota, in support of delivering a seven day infection prevention and control service.
The successful candidate will have previous acute healthcare experience and possess a keen interest in infection prevention and control.
