Role summary
This fixed-term Specialist Occupational Therapist role covers maternity leave in the Epsom Community Mental Health Recovery Service. The post holder will provide high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy assessments and interventions, both individually and in groups, guided by the Model of Human Occupation. Responsibilities include communicating effectively with service users and the multidisciplinary team, contributing to service development, and supervising junior staff and students. Key responsibilities
- Provide high quality and evidence based occupational therapy assessment and interventions, both group and individual.
- Communicate effectively with people who access services, carers, the multi-disciplinary team and outside agencies.
- Contribute to the generic functioning of the team and service development and audits.
- Provide supervision and mentoring to more junior occupational therapists, apprenticeships, support workers and activities coordinators.
- Act as lead professional or care coordinator for people who access services for the duration of their occupational therapy assessment and/or intervention.
- Periodically cover the duty system within the Neighbourhood Mental Health teams and respond to urgent mental health assessments.
Essential criteria
- Occupational Therapy Professional qualification
- HCPC registration
- UK driving license and access to car for work purposes
Desirable criteria
- Experience of group facilitation
- Completion of Practice Placement Educators course
- Experience of supervising students on placement
- Experience of contributing to service development/ project work
- Experience of working in adult mental health services
- Experience of working in the community

Job summary
We are seeking an Occupational Therapist to provide fixed-term maternity leave cover in our Epsom Community Mental Heath Recovery Service (CMHRS).
We offerhigh quality and evidence based occupational therapy assessments, interventions and consultations to enable people who access the CMHRS to reach their full potential.
We use Model of Human Occupation to guide all our occupational therapy assessments and interventions.
The occupational therapy leadership team is committed to offering extensive, co-ordinated CPD programmes including a robust supervision structure, care group meetings, Trust wide and core competence training and an annual conference.
Main duties of the job
