Job summary

The purpose of the Surgical Admissions Booking Officer will be to comply with all administrative procedures associated with the admission of elective, planned, diagnostic and cancer patients in order to contribute to the delivery of waiting time targets for admissions.

To provide a high standard of administrative support to the Consultant and his/her team, interacting with other departments, General Practitioners and patients as required.

Supporting the Elective Admission Validation and Theatre Schedulers as required and deputising for them in their absence.

Main duties of the job

Dealing promptly with incoming correspondence, telephone calls and enquiries from patients, wards and medical staff in an efficient and effective manner.

Responsible for ensuring patient details are entered on to the e-Camis waiting list module within 2 working days of arrival in the office.

To work under the supervision of the Validation and Admissions Officer to ensure that all TCI entries on the waiting list for surgery have a validated clock start.

Booking patients appropriately and in a timely manner, according to their clinical priority, ensuring national and local waiting times and targets are met, highlighting issues or concerns to the Validation and
