Role summary
This role is for a Band 4 Theatre Materials & Equipment Procurement Officer, working 37.5 hours per week. The post holder will operationally manage the Theatre Stores Team across Wigan and Leigh sites, ensuring efficient procurement, receipt, storage, and distribution of theatre supplies. Responsibilities include leading stock management, making purchasing decisions, conducting product evaluations, and managing contracts. The role also involves staff management, budget reporting, and resolving supply chain issues, with delegated authority for procurement up to £50,000.
Key responsibilities
- Responsible for the operational management of the Theatre Stores Team across the Wigan and Leigh sites.
- Ensure effective procurement, receipt, storage, and distribution of stock and supplies for theatre services.
- Lead on purchasing decisions, product evaluations, contract management, stock audits, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Manage staff, monitor performance, report on budgets, and resolve supply chain issues.
- Undertake procurement activities up to £50,000 and support tendering processes.
- Provide specialist advice on theatre supplies and purchasing practices.
Essential criteria
- NVQ III or equivalent in Business Administration Studies
- Experience of working in a Purchasing and Supply
- Experience of utilising eProcurement systems
- Management of Databases/systems of recording
- Experience of working collaboratively across range of departments or workgroups to support the key role objectives
- Experience in supervision/management of a team/staff
- PC Literate including working knowledge of Microsoft applications
- Highly customer focused
- Confident communicator with developed interpersonal skills
- Literacy/numeracy skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Ability to work under pressure
- Highly motivated
- Problem Solving Skills
- Sound knowledge of stock / materials principles
