Role summary
This role involves working as an Associate Macmillan Palliative Care Nurse within a multidisciplinary team, supporting Neighbourhood teams to deliver high-quality palliative care, including symptom management and psychological support. The post holder will also be responsible for educating other healthcare professionals, providing training, and offering support and advice to the multidisciplinary team. It requires a highly motivated Registered Nurse with extensive community palliative care experience and strong communication skills.
Key responsibilities
- Support Neighbourhood teams in delivering high-quality palliative care, including symptom management and psychological support.
- Provide education, training, support, and advice to other healthcare professionals and the multidisciplinary team.
- Teach and provide training to staff in the community.
- Support and supervise other staff in the clinical environment.
- Manage own caseload effectively and visit patients in their own homes.
Essential criteria
- oRegistered Nurse
- oUp to date registration with the NMC
- oHealth Related Degree or equivalent portfolio experience
- oExperience evidenced by completion of highly specialist short courses, post-graduate training, etc or relevant
- 4 years post registration experience
- 2 years experience in delivering palliative care
- experience working in a community setting
- experience of working in a mutidiaplinary team
- experience in teaching others
- experience in supporting and supervising others
- car driver and access to car
- oGood caseload management skills including experience of managing own caseload

Job summary
The Associate Macmillan Palliative Care Nurse will work as a member of the wider locality based multidisciplinary Macmillan Palliative Care Supportive Service. The post holder will support Neighbourhood teams to deliver locally driven high quality care including symptom management and psychological support, in response to patients' and carers' needs. This includes education of other health care professionals, training, support and advice for the multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a highly motivated Registered Nurse with extensive experience in delivering palliative care in the community. Experience of working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team would be beneficial.
You will be responsible forteaching and providing training to staff in the community whilst supporting and supervising other staff in the clinical environment.
You will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills and complete an advanced communication skills training course.
In depth knowledge of National Policies and Procedures in Palliative Care and good caseload management skills are a key part of the role. The ability to visit patients in their own home is essential to the role.
