Role summary
This role is for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist specializing in neurodiversity, SEMH, and trauma-informed practice, working with vulnerable young people aged 10-18 in a secure unit. You will provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for communication needs, develop tailored programs, and offer expert advice to multidisciplinary teams. The position involves contributing to MDT assessments, care planning, delivering training, and supporting staff within the secure setting and wider CAMHS service. You will also contribute to resource development and preventative work with families and partner agencies.
Essential criteria
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent
- Current registered membership of HCPC and RCSLT
- Evidence of specialised continued professional development in speech and language therapy
- Dysphagia competencies/ post basic dysphagia training
- HCPC registration

- Management training
- Leadership Training
- Accredited DISCO / ADIR / ADOS or equivalent diagnostic assessor
- Further theoretical training and experience in autism
- Further qualification on Sensory Integration

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist with an interest in neurodiversity, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and trauma-informed practice to join the multidisciplinary healthcare team at LSU/(Millennium Lodge)
Working with vulnerable young people aged 10-18, you will provide specialist assessment, formulation, diagnosis and intervention for speech, language, communication and social communication needs. Using advanced clinical reasoning skills, you will develop tailored intervention programmes and provide expert advice to colleagues to support engagement in education, therapy and care
You will be a key member of a well-established multidisciplinary team including nursing, psychology, psychiatry, occupational therapy and physical healthcare professionals. The role involves contributing to MDT assessments, consultations and care planning, as well as delivering training, guidance and support to staff within the secure setting and the wider CAMHS Speech and Language Therapy Service.
