Role summary
This role is for a highly motivated Specialist Nurse and Treatment Suite Manager for Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) within Sheffield Health Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will provide specialist nursing leadership, clinical expertise, and coordinate ECT treatment, ensuring safe, effective, and person-centered care. Key responsibilities include patient assessments, monitoring physical and mental health, supporting patients and families, and maintaining ECTAS accreditation. The post holder will also support service development, supervise junior staff, and maintain accurate clinical records.
Key responsibilities
- Provide specialist nursing leadership and clinical expertise within the ECT suite.
- Coordinate ECT before, during, and after treatment, working closely with the MDT.
- Undertake patient assessments and monitor physical and mental health.
- Support patients, families, and carers throughout the ECT process.
- Maintain ECTAS accreditation and ensure adherence to legal frameworks and policies.
- Support service development, provide supervision to junior staff, and maintain accurate clinical records.
Essential criteria
- Knowledge and Experience in ECT
- Working knowledge and understanding of adult and older adult with organic and functional mental health issues at least 2 years.
- Participation in staff training / development oIT Literate
- Ability to respond to the individual rights/needs/opinions of patients and carers
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Knowledge of and ability in implementing and practicing supervision and appraisals
- Presentation skills
- Registered Nurse-Mental health
- Degree or equivalent.
- Specialist knowledge across a range of work procedures and practices.
- Professional knowledge acquired through degree supplemented by training and/or combination of additional post registration/postgraduate specialist training, experience and/or short course, CPD or equivalent.
- Experience and evidence of working with adult and older people with mental health problems
- Demonstrable experience of ability to undertake the role
- Experience of Service Development & Team Governance
- Experience in working in partnership with others.
- Experience in working within MDT/multi professional
- Experience of working directly with people with Functional and Organic illnesses and their carers
- Knowledge & understanding of mental health issues oEffective Time management
- Experience of day-to-day operational management, leadership or mentorship of a clinical team.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to come and join our team at SHPU and work as a Specialist Nurse - Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) and Treatment Suite Manager.
