Role summary
This role is for a Senior Pharmacy Assistant in the Aseptic Supply Unit at Luton & Dunstable Hospital. You will be involved in dispensing outsourced aseptic products, managing stock, and assisting with administration related to the electronic chemotherapy prescribing system. The position requires prior experience in pharmacy and NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services. It is a dynamic role supporting patient care and medicines optimisation, including some weekend and bank holiday shifts.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Aseptic Supply Team with dispensing outsourced aseptic products according to Standard Operating Procedures.
- Be involved in pharmacy ordering activities within the Aseptic Supply Unit.
- Participate in dispensing activities in both the Aseptic Supply Unit and the Dispensary.
- Assist Aseptic Supply Unit Pharmacists with administration for the electronic chemotherapy prescribing system.
- Supervise trainee Pharmacy Assistants and Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians.
- Accurately use computer systems to record issues, receipts, and returns.
Essential criteria
- NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services
- Basic numeracy and literacy
- Experience in a pharmacy, warehouse or customer orientated environment.
- Experience of supervising staff in training
- Ability to organise own day to day work tasks
- Standard keyboard skills
Desirable criteria
- Experience in Pharmacy Aseptic Unit
