Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced quantitative researcher to join the Born in Bradford (BiB) Family Inequalities Research (FaIR) team. The role involves contributing to a new Population Research UK (PRUK)-funded collaboration, focusing on identifying priority research questions and leading complex quantitative analyses using large longitudinal and routine health and education datasets. The successful candidate will work with policy-makers and researchers to influence national policy and contribute to research with real-world impact for children and families. The post is based at the Bradford Institute for Health Research, requiring a minimum of three days per week on-site.
Essential criteria
- Relevant research experience in the field of epidemiology, biostatistics, or other relevant applied health setting
- An academic track record of peer-reviewed publications
- Experienced in advanced quantitative data analysis
- Experience of working in collaborative research groups including NHS, academics, policy-makers and other stakeholders
- Experience of collecting, processing and analysing research and / or routinely-collected health data
- Experience of project management including project delivery, monitoring and reporting
Desirable criteria
- Experience of disseminating complex research findings in accessible formats to different stakeholder groups including clinicians, policy-makers and the general public
- Previous experience of developing research proposals and funding applications in the field of epidemiology, biostatistics or public health.
- Previous experience of working with policy-makers and/or priority setting with stakeholders
- Good time management and organisational skills, able to plan and implement objectives effectively including prioritizing and managing workloads for multiple projects in parallel
- Able to perform a range of statistical quantitative and analysis techniques
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent IT skills including use of Microsoft office (word, powerpoint, excel, access databases) and database software (e.g. SQL)
- Ability to manage and analyse large datasets (i.e. longitudinal cohort data or healthcare data)using appropriate statistical software (e.g. R or Stata)
- Facilitation skills and the ability to work with, and co-ordinate the work of groups of senior researchers
- Demonstrated facilitative and negotiating skills
- Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
- Underpinning knowledge of cohort studies and complex epidemiological analysis
- Postgraduate qualification\* in a relevant epidemiological, biomedical or statistical subject.
- PhD\* in a relevant subject area
- Willing to occasionally travel locally, nationally and internationally
- Able to work flexibly to meet the requirements of the role

We are seeking an experienced quantitative researcher to join our Family Inequalities Research (FaIR) team based within BiB.
