Role summary
This role involves working with pregnant women and their families to promote a healthy pregnancy and reduce health inequalities. The advisor will provide holistic, behavioural change support, including smoking cessation, physical activity advice, and infant feeding guidance. The position requires working autonomously across various public health priorities in both hospital and community settings. It focuses on supporting women in priority groups, such as those with complex social needs and from ethnic minority backgrounds.
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of public health/community services/maternity care procedures and practices; acquired through NVQ3 plus additional training to diploma level equivalent, or equivalent through short courses or experience
- Level 3 qualification in relevant subject or equivalent experience.
- Experience of working and communicating with vulnerable families.
- Experience of working in a health or voluntary community setting.

- Certificate/Professional qualification in a related area
- Level 2 smoking cessation training
- Motivational behaviour training
- Experience and knowledge
- Knowledge of public health/community services/maternity care procedures and practices; acquired through NVQ3 plus additional training to diploma level equivalent, or equivalent through short courses or experience
- Knowledge and understanding of underlying determinants of health and issues facing people in communities of multiple deprivation Experience of monitoring and evaluation
- Experience of working with pregnant women/families in a community setting.
- Supervisory experience
- Experience of working with pregnant women and families
- It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving licence and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes, or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role. However, the Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a disabled person to undertake the role.

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our expanding team, working with pregnant women and their families to ensure that every child has the best start in life.
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated person with a level 3 qualification in a health or related subject and experience of working with pregnant women and families or community groups, in a health or voluntary sector capacity.
The role will work with both the public health team and maternity teams providing a holistic, behavioural change approach to caring for pregnant women and their families, providing a range of early support and information to promote a healthy pregnancy and targeting work to reduce health inequalities faced by families in your care. This may include, smoking cessation, physical activity advice, infant feeding, immunisations and healthy lifestyle support.
You will work with the maternity tobacco dependency team and public health team to provide behavioural support and treatment to promote changes to support a healthier pregnancy. In addition, you will care for women in priority groups who experience poorer outcomes in maternity and healthcare, includingthose who are living with complex social needs and thoseandwomen from ethnic minority backgrounds.
