Role summary
This role is for a passionate and motivated Senior Specialist Dietitian to join the Nutrition Team at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. The successful candidate will deliver evidence-based nutritional advice, assessment, and treatment to a variety of patients, including those requiring parenteral nutrition. The position involves a mix of inpatient care across various wards (surgical, gastro, oncology, intensive care) and outpatient clinics. It offers opportunities for professional development within a supportive and dynamic department.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out clinical dietetic assessments and offer and evaluate evidence-based interventions for patients.
- Hold responsibility for own and / or shared caseload.
- Maintain clinical records in line with local / Trust documentation guidelines.
- Work within National and Trust policies / guidelines; and HCPC and BDA standards.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and audit work.
- Support training of student dietitians and provide nutrition education to colleagues.
Essential criteria
- oDegree in Nutrition and Dietetics
- oHCPC registration
- oRelevant post graduate master's level qualification OR equivalent evidence of clinical dietetic development in specialist field
- oDocumented evidence of continuous professional Development related to specialist area
- oClinical Supervisory Training (students)
- oSignificant clinical post graduate dietetic including experience in specialist clinical area
- oEvidence of managing highly complex situations
- oExcellent clinical knowledge of the nutritional management of a wide variety of clinical conditions based on current best practice
- oExperience of leading on group and individual dietetic sessions including preparation, delivery and evaluation
- oSignificant experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
- oExperience of supervising, mentoring and appraising colleagues
- oCan give examples of leading on quality initiatives, audit and / or service improvement work (or oresearch if applicable to post)
- oIn depth dietetic knowledge in specialist area acquired through degree qualification and continuous professional development
- oIn depth knowledge of national strategy, policy and guidance relevant to post and how they an be applied in planning of services
- oKnowledge of current issues and research relevant to specialist clinical area
- oAware of the different communication needs within a culturally diverse community and how this may impact on professional practice
- oSound knowledge of principles of clinical governance
- oAble to communicate with clients using expert dietary counselling, motivational and negotiation skills
- oAble to anaylse highly complex information and make judgements on dietetic issues
- oAble to adapt written and oral communication style to meet the needs of various audiences including people from a variety of backgrounds and communication needs without risk of misunderstanding
- oKeyboard and IT skills to support clinical practice
- oFlexible approach and willingness to adapt to change
- oClinical supervision skills
- oMust be able to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Trust's values. (As detailed in UHCW's Values in Action document below)

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Dietitian to join our dynamic team at UHCW. As a Dietitian within the Nutrition Team you will be working within a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based nutritional advice, assessment, and treatment to a variety of patients, including those with intestinal failure who require parenteral nutrition .
