Role summary
This role is for a Senior IT Systems Engineer focusing on M365, based at Bolton Hospital. You will join a 3rd line team providing technical support and project delivery for Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, Bolton GPs, and CCG across numerous sites. The position involves working with a wide range of advanced technologies, focusing on server architecture, cyber security, and cloud infrastructure. It's an opportunity to contribute to the development of the IT infrastructure within the Bolton healthcare economy.
Key responsibilities
- Be a lead specialist in at least 4 technical disciplines as defined by the Knowledge Skills Framework Document.
- Provide 3rd Line Support, Projects, and Architecture for Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, Bolton GPs, and CCG with a strong focus on servers.
- Ensure robust cyber security monitoring and remediation, maintaining compliance with NHS Digital standards and ISO 27001.
- Manage and maintain effective, resilient, and secure virtualised environments, Active Directory, SAN infrastructure, and corporate messaging (Exchange/M365).
- Design and implement technical solutions, manage technical workstreams for upgrades and migrations, and assist in training other IT staff.
- Participate in an out-of-hours rota when appropriate and undertake other assignments as agreed by the CTO.
Essential criteria
- MCSE / Degree Level / Equivalent
- Demonstrate commitment to ongoing personal development
- Experience in delivering complex technical IT facilities
- Citrix XenDesktop/XenApp Experience
- Windows Operating systems and Active Directory Management
- Exchange infrastructure knowledge (365 & On-prem)
- Firewall technologies knowledge
- EDR and NDR management
- SAN Technologies
- VMware and Hyper V knowledge
- Disaster recovery and Business Continuity knowledge
- Windows Server knowledge
- Knowledge to be a lead specialist in at least 4 technical disciplines as defined by the Knowledge Skills Framework Document.
- Supplier management experience
- Large scale LAN knowledge
- Ability to organise self and others and to work on own initiative
- Ability to work to deadlines, prioritise tasks and manage in a busy pressurised climate
- Ability to prioritise and plan use of resources
- Knowledge of current NHS Information Technology issues, standards and procedures
- Flexibility of working hours
- Well motivated
- Able to work on own initiative
- Good communication skills, written and oral
- Full UK Driving License Holder
Desirable criteria
- CCA, CCP, CCE, MCSA, CCNA, VCP
- ITIL
- Experience of supporting a Virtual Environment
- NHS Cyber Security including supporting compliance with Data Security & Protection Toolkit (DSPT) and GDPR / Data Protection Act 2018
- Experience with cyber related incident response and investigation
- Experience with vulnerability management
- Ability to communicate complex information to all levels of staff
- Able to assess risk and prioritise remediation
