Role summary
The Trust is seeking a qualified Electrician to join the Estates Maintenance Team, responsible for delivering comprehensive maintenance and installation services across its sites. This role involves carrying out repairs, maintenance, and installations of plant, equipment, systems, and building fabric, including planned preventative maintenance and fault finding. The successful candidate will work with specialist contractors and engineers, ensuring compliant, safe, and pleasant environments for patients and staff. Training will be provided to develop multi-trade flexibility and competence, and the role includes participation in an on-call rota.
Essential criteria
- 4-year accredited apprenticeship training course, level 3 vocational qualification
- Other training related to healthcare engineering systems. Accredited HTM Competent Person course or appropriate M&E maintenance experience and willingness to undertake CP training as required.
- An apprenticeship qualification in a mechanical, electrical or building related discipline
- Post apprenticeship diploma, ONC or HNC or degree or an equivalent level of knowledge and experience in mechanical or electrical maintenance
- Additional trade relevant certification e.g. Refrigeration, Pressure Systems, Fixed Wiring, gas appliances, alarm systems or other specialist areas
- Able to demonstrate suitable post apprenticeship experience in non-routine maintenance of complex engineering plant and equipment with a broad understanding of other trade disciplines
- Experience of liaising with and supervising building and engineering contractors

- Computer systems experience
- Previous experience in a hospital maintenance environment with exposure to all building and engineering aspects
- Mentoring and Training experience
- Knowledge of the techniques and standards of building, mechanical or electrical engineering services and contract procedures with a minimum of 4 years continuous, relevant experience
- Knowledge of Health & Safety Policy and Safe Working Procedures.
- Knowledge of statutory legislation and relevant Codes of Practice
- Knowledge of operating a computerised building management system and/or panel drawings in diagnosing faults
- Knowledge of NHS Technical standards and HTM's and where to find them
- Able to read, understanding and analyse complex engineering systems and drawings
- Ability to work under own initiative in a demand drive service
- Effective planning skills
- Supervisory of apprentices
- Effective communication and inter-personal skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft software and general computer literacy.

The Trust are seeking a qualified Electrician to join the Estates Maintenance Team working at our Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber sites. You will be part of a great team who are responsible for the delivery of a comprehensive maintenance and installation service across the Trust's estate. The post attracts a band 5 salary plus overtime + on call allowance + any call out payments.

Applicants must hold NVQ level 3 qualifications and have undertaken an accredited apprenticeship. You will be carrying out maintenance and installation work across our Trust properties and work with a variety of our specialist contractors and engineers on a variety of systems. You will enjoy working with all our clinical staff, nurses, doctors, and corporate staff to support them in their work.
