Role summary
This role is for a Cath Lab Nurse or Cardiac Radiographer to join the expanding Cardiology department's Cardiac Cath labs. It involves building existing skills through training to undertake both Radiographer and Nursing duties for procedures like Angiography and Percutaneous Coronary Intervention. The successful candidate will support the department's nursing and radiographer requirements, contributing to patient care and policy development.
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse on the appropriate part of the NMC Register or Radiographer on Health & Care Professions Council register
- Post registration qualification or equivalent experience relevant to the clinical area
- Evidence of post registration professional development e.g. short specialist courses or experience to post graduate diploma level or equivalent
- Significant post registration, with evidence of good all round experience
- Significant Knowledge of Cardiac Cath Lab procedures, relevant imaging equipment and anatomy and pathology
- Attitude, aptitude
- Demonstrates can work effectively in inter/multidisciplinary team.
- Effective role model, demonstrating NNUH's PRIDE values of People focussed, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence
- Demonstrates understanding and commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Our expanding Cardiology department's Cardiac Cath labs comprise of 5 Cath Labs, two recovery areas and an Elective Unit. Procedures completed in the Cath Lab include coronary diagnostic procedures, interventional angioplasty, Electrophysiology Studies and Pacemaker insertion under sedation and GA. In addition, we run a 24/7 heart attack service which is provided out of hours on an on-call basis.
We are part way through an ongoing refurbishment program to furnish us with a suite of Philips Azurion systems.
The role will involve building upon existing Cath Lab skills through an initial training block in order to be able to undertake Radiographer duties or Nursing duties depending on background in the Cath Labs for procedures such as Angiography and Percutaneous Coronary Intervention.
We are looking for individuals with excellent clinical and technical skills with experience in Cath Labs to be able to take this next step in development.
This is an exciting time for the department with the expansion and development of services providing exciting opportunities for progression.
